The Norvins plays "Heathen Set" for the Fuzztones Tribute "Illegitimate Spawn Vol. II" !

"Interviewers laughed in 1987 when we called ourselves the Johnny Appleseeds of Rock 'n' Roll, and confided that our mission was to spread our seed all over Europe, insuring future generations of Fuzztones. It's now 2009. The Fuzztones' Illegitimate Spawn are all grown and ready to breed. Who's laughing NOW?"

Rudi Protrudi, THE FUZZTONES

THE FUZZTONES ILLEGITIMATE SPAWN
VOLUME I and II

2005 marked the 25 year anniversary of garage-punk legends, The Fuzztones. During their career they inspired countless bands, and their influence is still being felt today. It then only seemed logical that the timing would be right for a tribute to the Gurus of Garage Grunge, and Germany's Sin Records saw to it. Once the concept of the album was realized, a message appeared on The Fuzztones website, requesting submissions from interested bands. As it turned out, the response was overwhelming. Tribute albums are commonplace these days, but how many bands can actually claim enough material for a TRILOGY? And all the tracks are killer - no filler! Released in 2005,"FUZZTONES ILLEGITIMATE SPAWN," a double CD collection, featured 42 bands from Peru to Australia, all interpreting Fuzztones classics in their own unique and personal style.

Many of the bands featured have shared stages with The Fuzztones, and in fact one band (Lysergic Love) provided the idea for this album when they gave head Fuzztone Rudi Protrudi a CD filled with Fuzztones covers. More well known contributors include transgender punk icon Jayne County, who offers "You Tarzan, Me Jane," a sassy answer to The Fuzztones' "Me Tarzan You Jane." 80's garage legends, The Morlocks, perform "Black Box," originally written by singer Leighton Kozumi and Fuzztones guitarist Jordan Tarlow. Psych pioneers Plasticland's version of "Ward 81" may just outcreep the original. 80's garage mainstays Marshmallow Overcoat deliver a goth-psych "Skeleton Farm," and death-country crooner Hank Ray's meloncholy "Ghost Clinic" may just inspire a suicide or two. Of special note is Berlin's late, great Nikki Sudden, whose interpretation of "Just Once," which happens to be the last recording he made, is so personal, he deserves co-writing credit.

Now we are proud to announce "FUZZTONES ILLEGITIMATE SPAWN VOL. 2," a double CD set to be released this Spring on UK's Twist label! Artists featured this time around include the Cult's Ian Astbury, Italy's Sick Rose, Berlin's Magnificent Brotherhood, What For, and Queensgang Orchestra (delivering an astounding swing version of "She's Wicked"!), Australia's Doll Squad, Ireland's Urges, Mad Mike's Live Ones, Dortmund's Cheeks, Italy's Hangee V and the Preachers, with Rudi Protrudi guesting on lead vocals for a song especially written for this album!

Journalists have often referred to The Fuzztones as merely a 60's cover band, but one listen to this compilation will strongly attest to their superb songwriting skills. Almost every song included on these albums is a Fuzztones original, with a few exceptions like The Hamburg Ramones "Long Black Hair," salutes Rudi. The Weirdtones' "Leave Your Mind At Home" is a direct reference to the band's first album of the same name. And finally, Peru's Manganzoides offer "Fuzztomano Piedricola," an homage to The Fuzztones, sung in their native tongue. Translation? "We need The Fuzztones!"

The Norvins' album « Time Machine » is out now !

"CD out now, Vinyl a bit later!!! After the two contributions for the collection on RUDI PROTRUDI's FUZZTONES' TRIBUTE VOL. 2 album and LOST-IN-TYME VOL. 4 CD the first Longplayer of these 5 Frenchmen from Paris is released on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS! 14 GaragePunk smashers utterly in the style of THE STAGGERS, THE SATELLITERS, THE CYNICS, THE FUZZTONES & THE CHESTERFIELD KINGS! But the NORVINS aren't second to none of their examples in no way. 12 self composed powerful 60's GaragePunk anthems, which all of them pumpingly but rhythmically go ahead. The choice of the two cover versions 'ABBA' by THE PARAGONS and 'Nothin'' by THE UGLY DUCKLINGS completes the album and certifies, that THE NORVINS know, how 60's Garage-Fuzz-Punk is about to be written and performed as well! But also High-Heel Chelsea Boots and the genuine vintaged 60's stage equipment of the band represent, that THE NORVINS have soaked the sound of the 60's cryptic savage bands up like a sponge. Furthermore one or two NUGGETS Comp. LPs are standing in their LP collection or being played over and over again! Together or alternately, guitar and organ are the most impulsive and powerful parts within the ultimative sound of THE NORVINS. Supplemented through drums and bass, this still fresh and young band conjures up a distinctive and inventive R&B-Garage-Punk out of the tubes of their amplifiers. Harp and timbrel are the remaining essentials, played by Ed, the frontman, who establishes this instruments besides his powerful and resonant voice, energetic and blaring. Through Eds doozy verve and through the catchy tune and musical structures THE NORVINS prove their originality, leaned against classic GaragePunk of the 60's. The sound of THE NORVINS is sharper than razor blades and makes sure that your body will start to vibrate and that you will not be able to stop moving because of the right portion of Fuzz linked with the sound of the Farfisa-Organ."
